I was looking around on the internet for an easy granny square type afghan to make for MIL and ran across this: ErinLindsey's Pile Of Yarn: Granny Square patternI think I may try it with one color of yarn and make a lap throw so I can finish a bit faster. She may be going into the hospital in the next couple of weeks, so I have to work fast. I wish I could find a similar pattern in knitting because I knit faster than I crochet, but it would involved mitered corners... I think I'll stick with the crochet. There is a really pretty shade of silvery gray yarn made by Caron in the " Simply Soft" line I'm thinking of using. It will be super soft and warm, which is exactly what she will need.
